SEN OVER!!!

Finally after an era lasting for 3 months, 1 week and 2 days our SEN project got over. Now I think I have some time to breathe and spend time with people other than my project partners. It was very exasperating to see the same old faces cribbing about the work given to them. But one thing about this whole SEN affair is very weird, whatever hard work we put in is evaluated in mere 60 minutes flat, if people around me are right then it is these few minutes that decide our final grade in the course. Anyways, there is no point in carrying the discussion forward; the best thing is that it is OVER!!.

Now looking beyond SEN I have some other commitments also which had taken a back seat due to the above reasons; now I plan to devote some time to the upcoming DSA, DSP lab exams, DSA project, Search for a suitable Research Internship topic etc.

With just a few more days left this semester will also get over and when the next one begins we will be in the fourth year , now this sounds unbelievable , I don’t know why but it does.

SEN

From the very first semester in the college we people feel that the present sem is the most strenuous one and we wish that the next one will be a bit lighter and more enjoyable but year after year our hopes are devastated.

Same phenomenon happened in 5th sem , after dealing with the voluminous courses like OS and CNS we thought or I should say we were hoping that the sixth one will be a little effortless and will give us some time to breath and some scope for improving our forever sinking CPI’s before the whole placement event begins. But we were wrong again, what we didn’t know was that we will come face to face with a project for our software engineering courses; not just a project but the BAAP of all projects. For the uninitiated let me tell you that the project is to be done in a group of 10 along with a Project Manager (one of our seniors) within a period of 4 months.

The entire course structure for SEN is pretty good and is bound to help us when we do similar projects once we enter our respective jobs (this is what my seniors told me), it involves everything team work, documents, coding, testing, designing but the there is just one aspect which I abhor the most and that is the course instructor who is always looking for an opportunity to screw us and not just screw us but screw us hard.

Anyways lets hope that everything passes smoothly and get a good grade, which I think is the ultimate goal of every student like me.

The Return of a Blogger!!

It seems aeons have passes since my last post but finally I have returned to my abandoned blog and I am writing something for it , the reason is not just laziness but its just that I didn’t have anything meaningful to write about and also I was preoccupied with some other important stuff like my SEN project , a little bit of CATting , wordlists for GRE and search for a professor for my Research Internship. Phew!! , that’s a long list….

Its already April , just a month left when another batch from DA-IICT will pass out , hopefully some of them will join the highly coveted B-schools , some will go abroad to pursue their MS and on the other hand many will start with their first job( mostly in b’lore) .

It seems that it was just last month that I joined this college, I know that all this sounds pretty boring but its true that time flies very quickly , three years of my college have passed in a flash and just an year is left after which I will be standing at the same place where my seniors are standing today stuck between the pleasant college days on one side and the big bad world waiting to engulf them on the other side.

Talking about senior batch, the focus shifts to their farewell. To pay or not to pay for the farewell is the hot topic of discussion among the third year people these days. The people against it justify their argument by saying that the relations between the two batches are not amiable with some unpleasant incidents last year and giving farewell is just a formality which is not required, while the people supportering the the cause argue out that the farewell is a tradition and it has to be followed no matter what. If somebody asks me to join one of the two camps then I think that I would go for the latter one as I have had some great learning experiences from my seniors and many of them have helped me in some way or the other at some point of time in the past three years and I wish to maintain these relations for a long time to come.

Besides the farewell dispute another issue which is attracting attention is the B-school calls. Institutes like IIFT, XLRI, FMS.. have declared the results but the most awaited ones are yet to come. The no of people getting a call have increased from the last and I hope that the trend continues.

I don’t have anything else worthwhile to write and this post was just to keep my blog alive and and going, and prevent it from becoming one of the meaningless URLs floating in the web space.
