Mock CAT

From the very first day that I started with my CAT prep what I wanted to do was to give an all India Mock CAT exam, just wanted to see where I stand amongst others as of now. And fortunately my wish was fulfilled yesterday when I actually gave one. It was a good experience; I realized that it has become very difficult for me to sit at one place for two and a half hours at a stretch. It was based on the CAT 2006 paper, same no of questions, durations, kind of questions but it was less intensive than that. The main motive of the paper was to make us aware of the kind of exam CAT is and enable us to learn how to manage our time effectively and finally direct our haphazard efforts in an appropriate direction.

My score was good , better than many people around me but still I am not satisfied because I know that I could have done much better , I hate my habit of cribbing after each exam , but I guess that it is this lack of satisfaction that forces me to perform better the next time.

The main problem was not the toughness of questions but I sucked at managing my time in the last few minutes, I was just flipping through the entire paper to find some easy question that I had left earlier but ended up doing nothing in the last 15-20 minutes. Anyways this is just the starting there are many more tough ones to come ahead.

Looking forward to them!!!

Drudgeries of life!!!

Right now its 3:12 AM and I have nothing better to do than writing a post, rest of my batch is busy preparing for the mid sems starting from Monday but I am on a look out for something else that interests me more than these dull mid sems, by now you must have guessed that I am fed up with this crappy system which forces me to read tones and tones of junk material with just fraction of it titillating my interests. Talking about this sixth semester , similar to other sems this one is also full of alien matter with courses like MCS ( the prof has no idea what he is teaching , but I must compliment him for having tremendous amount of patience in him) , DSP( it seems as if the prof was the brand ambassador of Colgate before joining this institute , I mean throughout the lecture he has this 440 watt smile on his face , but hey my seniors have told me that the contents of this course are good , so looking forward to it…) , then there is SEN ( this professor is out there to make our lives hell , he claims that his course will be beneficial to us once we move out of the college and join some software company , but I seriously doubt that… , trust me people this guy would have earned a lot more had he been an English teacher somewhere) and adding to the agony are these thrice a week group meeting where ten of us are supposed to work on a project and on documents related to it, finally comes DSA( hey , I like this course and the professor , the contents of this course interest me and the prof is of type who always carries a cool head on his shoulder). Ohh!! I forgot to mention about my open elective Sc-Fi, as usual a useless course, its lectures just act like fillers between the other taxing ones.

I think that I have blurted a lot about this crappy system, and now I must study because I have to be a part of it for the next year and a half and I have to survive amongst the other victims of this system.

Who Are You

There are two kinds of people on earth today,
Just two kind of people, no more, no less.

Not the sinner and saint, for it's well understood,
That the good are half-bad and the bad half-good.

Not the rich and the poor, for you to rate man's wealth,
You must first know the state of his well-being and health.

Not the happy and sad, for the swift flying years
Bring each man his laughter and each man his tears.

No, the two kinds of people on earth I mean,
Are the people who lift and the people who lean.

Wherever you go , you will find the earth's mass,
Are always divided in just these two classes.

And oddly enough , you will find too , I wean,
There's only one lifter to twenty who lean.

In which class are you? Are you easing the load ,
Of overtaxed lifters, who toil down the road?

Or are you a leaner, who lets others share
Your portion of labour , and worry and care?
